I think they should have scaled up the 250 look to the 1100, just like Honda should have made a Shadow 1300 RS

    The DOG/GOD thread.

This usually takes about 20 seconds after I sit on the couch. Actually, his name is Theo as well.

Ha, Princess Auto probably sells something, but, oh the irony, after working for 30 years on compressors from 1/4hp to 12,000hp, I have never owned an air compressor myself. My avatar is actually the third stage rotor of the 10,000hp Ingersoll Rand compressor at work.

I'll have to call this bike "Meat", since it's back on the menu. I went to a notary with my papers, he looked them over, and was satisfied enough to stamp a printed out Government of Ontario General Affidavit, in it I stated I did the relevant title searches, stolen vehicle searches, and had a...

Well, looks like this is going nowhere. I went to the registry with a handful of documents going back to 1991, but the lady told me I would need to contact the British Columbia vehicle registry to find the last owner of the bike, then get an affidavit from a lawyer, etc. before I could register...

Meet Rex, my new 2022 Road King

Sad but true. The GS Resources has slowed down to a crawl compared to a decade ago. XS11.com, gone. We're getting old man. I heard Stevie Nicks singing Rhiannon on the radio today and realized I was in elementary school when it first hit the airwaves.

A couple of hours, some carb cleaner, a helicoil, yadda, yadda, I think we're back in business. The sight "glass" in this MC is actually a gummy rubber type of affair. Amazing what laying up since 1992 will do to a master cylinder. I had to get this out with a hammer and punch. The MC bore...

I may yet have to, since I lost the back of the handlebar clamp for the 650 MC and the screws don`t line up with the Virago clamp. Damn!

Well, I never cleaned a master cylinder with a vacuum cleaner before. Luckily, I kept my oem 650 unit which is the same except for the plastic reservoir. This one is beyond reasonable repair. The snapped cover screw sealed the deal. I have a rebuild kit for it, included in the $100 purchase...

Thanks Paul. The carbs are Hitachi 40mm. I don't know why they get so much hate, they seem to be well designed. There was one choke feed orifice plugged in one bowl. Diaphragms could protect an elephant they are in such good condition. Everything else was super clean. So is the tank on the...

    22's 1980 xs650 build thread

Sounds like the problem I had a few years ago. It turned out to be an internal short in the battery. That was fun to diagnose. I put a new unnecessary rotor in thinking I had an intermittent failure, but when I put the battery on a smart charger it gave an error code. So in the best tradition...

Down the rabbit hole again. It's in a lot rougher shape than my XS was. Tires aired up though! I managed to get a couple of coughs on ether, but the starter really is as dire as reported. Connections are so corroded the motor wouldn't even turn over with a booster at first. I got the carbs...

Well, it's no Sakura but what can you expect for $100... Everything is there, and if the odometer is correct, less than 15K (~9000miles). The motor is free and I turned it over by hand via the back wheel in 5th. One blown fork seal, busted front signal, rotted exhaust, seat cover toast...it...

I figured this forum would be full of Virago guys. I guess I shouldn't be surprised given they already own the best Yammie twin. Just jonesing for a bit more torque and not really that interested in more deep engine mods. Damn hipsters and un-builders have dried up most all the old Virago supply...

Creating a new regulator rectifier from scratch (1980 and up)

Lol at a XS running a cigarette lighter. Better have a throttle lock! I have the rightmost part of that device, but I really don't trust the rubber plugs to keep any water out. It's also in a case made to push into a cut out.

Who has/had one? I'd prefer a 1st gen for the more neutral ergos, kind of like an early Special vs later Special. Ideally, I'd like an early 750 to transplant a later 1100 motor into, but the 1st gens are getting hard to find. I'm holding out for a bit to see what turns up. There have been...

    Sump Plate Removal

I have a special drawer labelled SWEAR WORDS on my tool box. None of them have collected rust it seems. I keep my rotor puller in there for convenience.

HD springs did nothing for my clutch except get me a few more revs before it began to slip again, but maybe I'm lardier than some of you guys. My engine only has about 23,000 miles (36,000k,s) on it, so I think the plates should still be good. The camchain seems to have stretched quite a bit though.
