    Another distraction. XS650G

I will be replacing the brake fluid among the first things I do. The brake is functioning.

Oh, Lordy...I've become one of THEM

You need to get the hearing aids and use them. Using hearing aids will help you save what you have left.

Trust me. This becomes a chopper over my dead body. I have no aversion to Specials, even the "stupid" handlebars.

Yes, I noted that. I have a couple of cores, I think.

Maybe I’ll build a chopper!

    That’s something I hadn’t noticed. I think that’s an improvement made for 1982?

    Another distraction. XS650G

I have known this bike for over 20 years. I didn’t ever imagine it coming into my care.

    Another distraction. XS650G

I acquired this bike about a week ago. It’s a one owner machine, or it was before it got dropped here. It came from a close friend. I know the brake fluid is original. The tires both have a 2003 date on them. I assume fork oil is original too. I don’t believe there’s anything to do other than...

    Engine removal.

Strong boys? The stretcher is unnecessary. The boys can easily pull the engine out the right side. Simple!

    Interesting motorcycles, not XS650

That thing was built more on how it looks than how it rides. Euro bars are a thing of production motorcycles because they work for the masses. :) As for me, no I don’t wonder, I think it’s just you. Semper fi

New owner of a 1981 XS650 and I don’t know where to start

It's just one of the four bolts that helps you learn new words. Oh! Drain the oil before you pull it. With this bike, I think it may be just a weak spring. The ignition timing needs to be checked before tearing into it. As I recall, kicking it to life is hard work.

    My first car

I like your taste in cars. At 16, I had an affinity for British sports cars as well. I was emancipated before being able to own my own car.

    Whats your weather right now?

I made it home just in time to save our potted plants from freezing to death. It was 32F at 2 AM. Now bright and sunny 46F.

    My next Yamaha project

I believe a few of the tools that come with the more expensive bike may be higher quality than what’s in the XS650 kit.

    If I could ride.

    It’s pretty. I’m sorry you can’t.

I expect many of you have already provided expertise for this bike.

    Just Ride.

Yeah. The views were spectacular. When we stopped to look. I love a brisk ride on a crooked road. I met Ray Brown right here on this forum. He’s good for carrying this hobby into the future.

    My first car

Mine was a 1973 Monte Carlo. It wasn’t very old when I bought it. It had the swivel bucket seats in it.
