    83 Special Handlebar swap

I’m looking at a very nice stock 83 Heritage Special with under 5k miles. Price is right but I don’t think I would be happy with the stock Handlebars. Just wondering if anyone has put a more conventional handlebar and if they had any problems finding throttle cables, brake lines, et cet for the...

    Some people…..

Ferraris and Lamborghinis are not unusual in my neck of the woods, living near a race track, but I saw one out today driving on heavily salted roads. I know the bodies are carbon fiber but that salt is going to find it’s way somewhere it doesn’t belong. I hate to see salt on my seventeen year...

    Common fasteners

I want to build up a supply of the most common fasteners used on vintage Japanese motorcycles. What would you say are the six most common sizes and can anyone recommend a source ? Thanks !

    Why twins are best

I just spent the morning carb wrestling with an XS1100. I have the bloody hands to prove it. What a pain ! I have done it before and thought I had it down, but today was one of those days when nothing went right. Stupid me repositioned the cab clamps backwards so they were nearly impossible to...

    Project’72

With summer going faster than free deep fried cheese curds in a Wisconsin bar I returned to my work shop. Since I share the space with various artist and numerous critters first order of business was cleaning up the place. Spent a couple hours vacuuming and cleaning the powder from a visiting...

Harbor Freight tap and die set

Their products seem to be hit or miss so I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on them. I will use them mainly to chase down threads and clean out bolt holes.

    Childhood holy grail

Cox Red Baron with 020 engine. Most of my friends had 049s. I scrimped and saved to get one of these when I was a kid, about 1968/9 if I remember correctly. One of my most precious childhood possessions . A year or two later I got interestEd in mini bikes/motorcycles and that was that. Started...

    Too cool to pass by

No thermos bottle. Was owned by a pharmacist who brought his lunch to work for many years. I bought it from his niece, a friend of the family.

Found this old lunch box at the local farmer’s market. Too cool to pass by. I’ll find a use for it.

    Another project bike

I always wanted a Honda 350, first choice being a CL model. One showed up on Craigslist same time as this. Couldn’t get ahold of that owner so I ended up getting the SL. Got home with the bike and got a text from the CL owner asking if I was interested. I went over and checked it out. Long story...

    Another project bike

Been looking for a Honda 350 project for a while. Two show up on Craigslist today. Got in touch with the owner of this one. Only snag was title serial number didn’t match frame but did match engine. Bought it from original owner so shouldn’t be a problem getting a title especially since I went...

    Fantastic!

I got to ride this bike today. I met the owner who is on this forum and lives three blocks away. An absolute blast to ride! Sounds, looks, and rides great ! Better than ice cream as my dad used to say ! Had a great time talking to the owner too. What an afternoon! I wish Christmas was this good !

OK 2many I've been patiently waiting YEARS to hear about this gun barrel re-machining process

common practice for a worn gun barrel is to machine it smooth and install a liner. Nice thing about this procedure is you can select the caliber (to some degree) and the twist. The American single shot rifle association, ASSRA, website has loads of information about this. Beware though...
