    Mailman’s XS2 a full on restoration

Just to add to the discussion (confusion?). My 73TX has Allens on the breather. And the vent tubes are angled down as Bob's replacement.

On the road again at 40.............the bike that is..........PART DEUX

Left the tank with Terry today. He was quite surprised to see those pinholes in that location at the top of the tunnel as opposed to along a seam. He will braze it for me at some point. When I tapped around to test the integrity of the surrounding metal it seemed OK but he said he'll know when...

    Mailman’s XS2 a full on restoration

Haven't had the time, heart or energy to get back to this yet Jim. Any spare time was spent riding and then cleaning oil. :( It does have to be addressed as it has gotten worse, now with the second set of OEM seals which makes me wonder if in fact the caps and bearings aren't fully seated...

Project Canuck- 84 XS650 Project Build

My tach was really sluggish as well in spite of lubing the cable well after waking her up again Canuck. It had sat for 8 or 9 years. After some miles it responded well again.

On the road again at 40.............the bike that is..........PART DEUX

Superjet, as Jim said, I used it full strength. EDIT: 31.45% strength. Poured in a full 3.78l jug which was enough to cover all the rusted areas. As seen it worked amazingly well. Washed out with water, blew out with compressed air, rinsed with alcohol, blew out again, coated with a liberal...

On the road again at 40.............the bike that is..........PART DEUX

Well Gary, that's a valuable opinion, much appreciated. Once again all you guys have been extremely helpful in providing all this info for me to consider and explore further. I'll do some digging around here and see what I find. I expect the cost to 'professionally' repair this tank would be in...

On the road again at 40.............the bike that is..........PART DEUX

Thanks Dude. I may in fact go the sealer route but going to do some checking around and get some local pro's input. This tank has to be stripped and repainted so if there is ever a good time to have this problem, I guess this is it.

Ya, that also makes sense GLJ. I have to wonder about the integrity of the surrounding metal. Could only be a matter of time before more pinholes develop. Need to get some advice from some local pro's.

On the road again at 40.............the bike that is..........PART DEUX

Haha Jim. I read about doing that while doing some research. I do have a lot of large enough diameter hose laying around (nuther story) but I think I'll start by asking Terry........:D
