    Exhaust Give-A-Way

Here's my project. It's a 78 special. I'm creating a cafe dream bike with it. A new 2 into 1 exhaust would be just what the doctor ordered!

N Nice stuff, I gave a ridiculously low price. I didn't realize that it had to be stripped to bare metal. I put well over 40 hours into the tank and side covers.

That Honda tank is the factory color scheme for a 550 four, mid seventies. I put the base color and then a few coats of candy and then the clear. After the clear was dry I sanded it to 1000 grit then I applied the decals. After that I did three coats of RM glamor clear. Then I polished the...

Here's another one I did. This is actually an annoying plastic tank but I fixed it up good. I had to strip it to bare plastic because the paint was lifting. It took two attempts and a lot of carnage to get what you see here. The first try lifted so back to the drawing board. The small rounded...

That sounds like a decent price for a professional job. Here's a picture of a candy sword blue Honda tank I did. I had to strip it to bare metal and do some body work on it and the side covers. It took two tries to get the decal correct. This was a mind boggling amount of work but it was worth it.

I have painted a few motorcycles and it is a lot harder than you'd expect. If you want a professional looking job that is. I did it for much less than that and I was kicking myself. For that price it should be outstanding with high quality paint. You could easily spen a few hundred bucks on...

Painting recessed lettering on side covers

A really fine tipped pin striping brush can come in handy. The kind with short bristles.

I just got a free 79 like yours. I'm really starting to love Tis bike. I'm making mine into a cafe bike. Should post pictures before long. My 4 year old helped me replace the inner cam bushings. I put in needle bearings from Mikes. Really starting to have fun.

Painting recessed lettering on side covers

Sounds like a plan. I want to try it. Just be careful and be ready to wipe it out before it dries if you need to start over. You can also get liquid masking material in most art supply stores. You paint it on and peel it off later.

Inner cam bushings go in the same spot

Thanks for the advice, I'll try that. I just don't want to damage the labyrinth seals. Although they could probably handle a scratch or two because the shaft doesn't ride on them.
