    Longer shocks = chain fouling

Maybe? To be honest I don't recall for certain, it was a number of years ago. I feel like I would have put a spacer in there though. The plastic doesn't look deformed in the photos so I'm going to say I did :D

    Longer shocks = chain fouling

Appreciate the concern, eagle eyed Jim. Those photos were taken mid build, cotter pins are in place

    Longer shocks = chain fouling

Yes, I cut the bottom off. Only running the top portion as the chain has oodles of clearance under the swingarm.

    Longer shocks = chain fouling

I have 14.25" eye to eye shocks on my scrambler build and ran into excessive chain rubbing on the swingarm as well. I resolved the issue by adding a dirt bike chain slider to the swingarm. I drilled and tapped two holes in the swingarm to attach the slider. Edit: I believe the slider I used is...

    The 2016, 2018, 2019 & 2022 Handbuilt Motorcycle show in Austin, TX

Sorry I missed you, @TwoManyXS1Bs! I was there on and off throughout the weekend. Christian’s flathead is an absolute work of art. Everything is thoroughly thought out and most things serve multiple functions. The kickstart lever is the rear brake arm, the carb support bracket is the petcock...

Rear axle help, drum won't rotate, chain slap also

Thomas, I did get the axle installed properly but I have not resolved the chain slap issue yet. Go through the entire thread, it's only three pages, you'll see that I was mistaken about my brake plate situation and that was remedied. If you're having issues with your axle not tightening up we'll...

2022 XS650 Calendar Proof and Link

I attempted to order through the link in my gmail but the processing page never did anything. I didn’t receive a confirmation email either. Are we supposed to get one after ordering?

    Let's See The XS's

Unfortunately not. Once I'm wrapped up in a build I tend to get tunnel vision and don't post much about it. Perhaps someday I could recap it though.

    2022 XS650 Calendar VOTE HERE!

I picked up this '79 as a sad, neglected and stripped of parts basket case. My goal was to bring it back to life and build a bike that not only looked good but functioned well as fun little ripper. I removed as much weight as I could and successfully shaved 70 pounds! I love ripping this bike...

    Anyone recognize this washer?

I removed the tach drive from this bike so I think that’s a likely suspect. Probably fell off an I didn’t even know it was there. This washer is 12.2mm O.D. x 8mm I.D. x 1mm thick. I dug out the tach drive and it fits on the end nicely and the drive splines fit into the area of the washer that...

    Anyone recognize this washer?

I took the clutch cover off my ‘79 and discovered this washer at the bottom of the engine case below the crank. It feels like it has a little lip on it like it was compressed. The one photo shows the spot I found it. Any ideas where it’s supposed to be other than floating around in the engine?
