    Low fuel / reserve

Hello all. I’m curious regarding other’s experience as the fuel level draws down to the reserve level. I’m trying to get a sense when my fuel runs low and when to switch to reserve. My TX650 seems to “run rough” due to fuel starvation when fuel level is low (obviously), but switching to reserve...

What have you done to your XS today?

Got both engines on their stands and dollys. What’s next? Great question. I bought the track bike in the background but it has more issues than I expected. It’s either a light restoration track bike or go all the way.

What have you done to your XS today?

I realize it’s hard to imagine, but the pull strength of a single 10mm steel stud into threaded aluminum is close to 10,000 pounds. The load is distributed (somewhat unevenly) across eight studs.

What have you done to your XS today?

Created a fixture to hoist the engine. I’ll install it on a stand (shown) and then onto a dolly. I’m not quite done. I forgot to include the bolts for the engine to the stand when I was at the hardware store. We have the greatest Ace Hardware store locally in Beaverton, OR. It was established...

    New TX650 Wiring Questions.

Hi Mailman. The White/Gray was “well raced.” I think I’ll get it/keep it an early period correct racer. It’s also a Champion frame ~1975. From some brief research I did the swing arm was changed from rectangular to round then based on what they learn from the TZ750. The Triumph is a ‘66 TT...

    New TX650 Wiring Questions.

My collection grew quickly. Slowing down to figure out my plans. I’m pretty good on projects except I am SLOW. I’m trying to see if, practicality speaking, I can race the grey bike. The Yellow bike, by Adam Holmes, is mostly vintage NOS including the engine and Champion frame. I’m thinking...

    New TX650 Wiring Questions.

Yes, Tucson, AZ. My wife stays in Tucson in the winter. She lets me stay once and a while when I’m not working in Beaverton, OR. I thought it would be a nice place for a bike. All the credit on the excellent restoration goes to Bill Bowling !

    A couple of engines

Six months ago I decided to get an XS650. I now have 3 complete bikes and 2 extra engines. I need to figures out what I’m trying to accomplish 🤣. Im not trying be a collector, but it just sort of happens. For now, my plan is: 1 stock street bike. 1 street tracker. 1 race bike. Probably, I’m...

    A couple of engines

Thanks. I figured 77 or 78. The engines themselves didn’t to seem to change much.

    A couple of engines

I got a couple of engines with a flat tracker I recently bought. Looks like a ‘72 (has electric start) and a much later model, likely a ‘77. They were part of the deal with the bike but cost some $$ to get from the East coast to to Oregon. Nothing remarkable I’m guessing, but worth a try - was...

Thanks Jim. I’ll get in there eventually. Not a lot of room. I’m almost afraid to look. Regards, Bill

    New TX650 Wiring Questions.

Hello all. I’m going though my recently purchased TX650. I have two issues I’m working on presently: 1) The Neutral indicator light doesn’t illuminate (with key on and in neutral). I verified the bulb is good and grounded the wire at the neutral switch and nothing. so it looks like I need to...
