    Yep, a pair of modern rotors and calipers will be lighter than them OE single system. Not cheap and easy, but the best doesn't tend to be.

    Adding 7 lbs. or so to the unsprung weight of the front end is an "upgrade?" I for one don't think so. If you want to really upgrade your brake, do some searches here and give Michael Morse at 650 Central a call.

    Yeah, RD's instructions couild be better. You have to take a good look at the valve cup. Realize that it needs to be supported below by shims. That's also how you set the installed height.Nothing special needed for shims, common washers of correct thickness will get 'er done.
