He is! I can only imagine how awesome it must be to suddenly have a car that is somewhat competitive. I think Valtteri Bottas also deserves some credit. He is getting a lot out of that Alfa Romeo. For me, the showdown between Verstappen and Leclerc along with a good best-of-the-rest battle...

    Formula 1 Fans?

Awesome to see a brand new track! It looks like it is going to eat tires for breakfast. Hopefully this will be a two-stopper, which I think makes for a better grand prix. I didn't watch all of the practice, but from what I saw it looks like it will be an entertaining race. Those slow corners...

Late engine into early type frame ?

Something else you are going to have to contend with (if you want an electric start) is the smaller battery bay of the early models. I had to use some new-fangled lithium battery to fit in the space and get enough amps to the starter.

Late engine into early type frame ?

That's right. I believe it is an '82 engine in the '71 frame. Dad actually completed this part before I took on the project. I'll try and take a look at it and compare with my other bike to see how Dad modified it.

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

Oh yes, I really can't take too much credit for it... The plans were developed for the beginning machinist by a guy in the UK, Ade Swash. There are even videos to accompany the plans if you get stuck. There are also plans for several different variations. I have a bunch of stock leftover and...

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

I finished this little engine last night! My first real machining project, had a blast with it. Even better, it actually runs!

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

Alright alright alright! I just texted one of Dad's buddies asking for some help. Wife is going to be pissed!

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

A little of this, a little of that. Right now I am building a little model steam engine, mostly cutting aluminum and some brass. Definitely not hogging off big pieces of steel. I have also considered a little milling attachment for the South Bend, any feedback on that? Waste of money?

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

That tells me everything I needed to know 😅. I'll be enlisting some folks that have done this before... I also wanted to share a cool tool that I got for the lathe, it is a tap/die holder for the tailstock. I saw Dad get taps started holding them in a drill chuck, but with this you can safely...

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

Another question for you all.. I have a mill at Mom's house that I find myself needing to use more and more. I am thinking about trying to move it over to my shop, but am not sure how to. It is a good bit bigger than this little lathe. I know it comes apart, Dad moved it somehow, but any...

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

I had a "duh" moment when I realized that Dad's other lathe likely had a knurling tool somewhere. Well, I found it and it turned out to be the scissor type! I had to mill down the shank a little, but got it to fit on the 9A. This is the way to go. I had to mess around with pressure on the...

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

This: and this: made a discernable difference: Still not great, but there is some resemblance of a geometric pattern there. It still looks like one of the wheels is biting more than the other... I have not put a center on it because I have been working very close to the headstock and...

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

Yes! I believe this is my main problem. I am also having issues getting equal pressure on both knurling wheels. I set the height on the quick-change, knurl, mess it up, turn it down, and wash/rinse/repeat. I think it is about time to invest in a new knurling tool... Any thoughts on the...

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

Hey guys, good to be back on here! I haven't been riding much this winter and got out of the habit of logging on here. I also went through my own version of hell at work with testing for the Omicron variant, but that is finally subsiding. I see there have been some nice changes to the site...

    Formula 1 Fans?

So good to have F1 back! I feel like the sport as a whole is off to a great start this year. I'm especially happy to see Haas back in the game. I've always liked K-Mag, good riddance to that POS Mazespin. Tough break for Redbull and Alpha Tauri, but I'm sure they will be bounce back...

Thanks! Is that about where the balance point is or is that machine-dependent? I guess the gantry/carriage position probably has a lot to do with it.

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

Hello all. I have a 9" South Bend lathe that I am hoping to move into my shop soon and could use a little advice. The lathe was a restoration project of Dad's and is currently sitting in his shop. I made the decision to sell my antiquated radial arm saw and now have a space for it, but have...

Well said! Little did we know how prophetic you pre-race comment was going to be! Whatever the outcome, there were going to be some big emotions yesterday. I can't imagine the pressure that Lewis and Max were under... I have really enjoyed this thread over the season. I don't know many...
