When I try to kick it ...the bike is flat and dead...not even a glimmer of hope.

...so...being that the stator coils are burnt ...what next ? Hugh seemed to suggest that may be my no start issue.

Hugh responded to me today. Based on my photo, Hugh thinks that my stator might be fried.

This is how I hooked up meter probes to coil wires....not sure if negative or positive is correct...?

Blue coil terminals

My multi meter is a bit different than yours. I just kind winged through the settings till I got a reading....here are my readings

Yes...those are my scorch marks ...and ..No..the electrics were not isolated (not sure what you mean by isolated ) ...I dont believe the electrics were compromised during my welding unless the grounding did something ...? Not sure .....interesting thought.

The event was cool ...lots of bikes and wheelies. The bikes weren't labeled so more than half the time I could only guess what I was looking at. The owners of the bikes were nowhere around. The only words of wisdom I received came from a T shirt I saw...the T shirt said " fix your own sh*t."...

How do I test this with a multimeter ? Where do the probes go ? And what settings do I use on the meter ?

I noticed that on their website. They still have some xs650 stuff... most of what I have came from TC bros. Only my handlebars came from Low Brow... : ) ...this connection was so loose it came off with little effort...not sure if this might be the problem...somehow I doubt it.
