The pucks in wheel cylinders are tapered. When pressure is applied it spreads the seal preventing any leaks.

Have you considered some sort of automotive brake slave cylinder as the source of pucks and seals? Surely there is one that would work.

The manufacturer does mention that but considering most of us tend to use every increase in power we might manage to find it is probably a wash. The XS650 is said to be capable of 50mpg stock but rarely do we ride in such a way that we can pull it off.

Millyard is pretty amazing, perhaps someone should send him 2 old xs engines. I've also seen several YouTube videos where this guy cuts up old Honda Cub singles (or clones) and makes Vtwins, opposed twins, vertical twins and who knows what.
