    Missouri Title via Declaratory Judgement

As long as you received the title signed and dated from the now-deceased owner as part of the original transaction, looks like you would just pay the maximum late fee

    Missouri Title via Declaratory Judgement

    Missouri Title via Declaratory Judgement

My local DMV filled out Form 4808 (Incomplete Transaction Notice) indicating I needed a declaratory judgment in my favor. I used their official Bill of Sale form 1957 in the initial purchase. Along with these 2 items, I also attached as exhibits the VIN Check results from www.nicb.org/vincheck...

I threw some cork gasket material under the cap to keep it off of the pickup coils, screwed it down with some blue loctite, then after that dried, I backed it off until it had some wiggle room and put a large o-ring seal left over from the valve covers to fill in the gap to keep it from...

No Start - Voltage Drop While Cranking

Just finished installing a new exhaust gasket and was putting on the covers to go for a ride when I encountered my next issue... with the extra washer behind the stator plate, it sits just proud of the case, so now when I try to install the cover, it hits the pickup coils. Now I'm concerned of...

Ha ha, when I first read your message about being 40-50 years old, I thought you were talking about me (I'm north of 55 now), and yeah, I don't like going fast on this thing. I just recently got a back fender mounted, and haven't even ridden it since then. All last summer, I rode around...

I'm glad you responded - I have your "XS650 Top End Buildup" thread up right now looking through what's involved. Excellent write-up!

No Start - Voltage Drop While Cranking

After a good nights sleep, I got to thinking about the trick of squirting a little oil in the cylinder to see if the compression would come up. It did, which confirms it could use a ring job. But with the new compression reading, it was up to 110 lbs. Not great but not as terrible as it was...

No Start - Voltage Drop While Cranking

Hey everyone, just wanted to provide an update on this issue to close it out. I finally received the new stator plate from Boyer and after inserting an additional washer behind the plate to push it out more from the rotor, it is no longer rubbing against the solder and I got it to run. Well...

Thanks for the links. I have found both to be extremely helpful. I do have a question about this picture though... With the right-side cam pin hole at the 12 o'clock position, does that indicate that the left side #1 piston is at TDC?

Just a quick update on this topic... I've ordered a new stator plate from Boyer and waiting on shipment to the US. I also found a complete points ignition setup including rod on eBay that I bought and also awaiting shipment. Lastly I found some MP08 coils on eBay and bought those too just for...

No Start - Voltage Drop While Cranking

Looks like a nice setup. One problem I would run into is not having any of the original parts. When I got the bike, it already had the Boyer installed, so I don't have the original rod or any of it. It just has a piece of all-thread with the Boyer rotor on one side and nuts on the other. Since...

I could simply replace that one plate for the Boyer, and that would be the most cost effective, assuming that's the only thing in need of replacement. But what if I replace the whole system with something else? I've read on here to stay away from the XS Charge from Mike's. What other options...

So I started going through the troubleshooting guide again, one side still not firing, and tracked the fault to the resistor cap. Located apparently the last boot in town for this discontinued item, got it installed and started messing with trying to get it to start using the dot thru hole...

Yeah, that vintage bike link is where I got that "touch the leads together" tip from. Guess I'll go back through that article and the BB troubleshooting guide. I'll report back what I find. Honestly, I would have gladly paid $100 for a new battery for this to be over.

No Start - Voltage Drop While Cranking

Okay here's the latest... After confirming the battery was good, I get home and thought, well I will try to kick-start it so that all of the power of the battery is going straight to the ignition. Nothing. So then I thought, well maybe it is the carbs, so I shot some ether to it and try to...

As luck would have it, when I swapped to the new battery, I put the old one on the charger overnight. It's been over 24 hours since and I just checked it and it reads 12.74 volts. Going to take it to a parts store tomorrow for a load test. I'll report the results afterwards.
