Can you identify if this is a 750 or a 850 by just looking at it?

I don't think the XS750 had an oil cooler.

    Pilot Air Screw

Well, Part of mine came out. The bottom taper is buried in the orifice in the throat. I've walked away from it for a while. I chuckle to myself because I bought the motorcycle from a friend who said it ran just fine for him.:) The diaphragms in both carbs had holes in them and the end of the...

    Pilot Air Screw

Thanks for the link. I checked a Yamaha parts site yesterday and didn't see them listed, so I figured I was SOL. I didn't think to check Mikes till Vincentdfan said they had them. I much prefer factory parts if I can get them. Thanks again.

    Pilot Air Screw

I probably will, if I can find one easily enough. I just thought after I posted this, can I even find and buy new air screws? Thanks for the reply.

    Pilot Air Screw

Ordered new slides, needles, and needle jets for this '81 I bought. Dismantling the carbs so I can clean them, and found someone had drilled out the brass plugs over the air screws. And of course they went a little too far and the drill bit spun the screw in so far, and wiped out the slot for...

What have you done to your XS today?

Well after waiting 2 1/2 months for local shop to rake the neck, finally got frame back this week. Able to start mocking it up. I want to see how many things I bought are going to stay around and what is going to go bye-bye. Almost forgot. If rear fender looks crooked, it's because no bolts are...

    I Found Pics!

Haven't been around long, but somewhere along the line I mentioned I have a 1978 XS11. Someone wanted to see pictures, and I knew I had them, but this old age stuff hid them from me. Well, I was looking for something unrelated and voila I found them. I bought it new in late 1977 and rode the...

For Those That Have Drilled Their Mag Wheels

:) Thanks. What I am Actually wanting to do is remove all the material in the center of the spokes. I remember the Maxims had no material in the center of their spokes, so I figured...........................why not? Thanks again.

For Those That Have Drilled Their Mag Wheels

Thanks. My opinion is: the machinist just doesn't want any liability, which I understand completely. I'm thinking I might try it myself and weigh how much material I remove from each spoke. Yep to balancing. I have tape weights.............somewhere. Thanks again.

For Those That Have Drilled Their Mag Wheels

I am wanting to remove some of the material in the webbing on my mags. I have seen a couple of pics where somebody drilled holes in their wheels. My question is: did you make sure you removed the same weight, material wise, from each spoke? I talked to a machinist, and he expressed concern...
