Clutch Rubbing On Inside of Engine Cover

So that fender ended up fatiguing and broke off after a season of riding. If anyone does something similar make sure you reinforce it a bit. I've never had an issue with that. At full sag I have 4" between the top of the tire and the mounting strap. My rear shocks have about 3.5" of travel...

What have you done to your XS today?

Finally got my bike that I spent all last year building plated and out on the road.

Clutch Rubbing On Inside of Engine Cover

Sure. That seat doesn't have any clearance for the fender so I had to cut it down significantly. I also added a small mounting tab to the frame hoop.

Clutch Rubbing On Inside of Engine Cover

I should have mentioned the engine is a 1978.

Clutch Rubbing On Inside of Engine Cover

My clutch wasn't disengaging properly so I decided to get in there and see if I could spot the issue. There was evidence the clutch had been rubbing on the inside of the engine cover at some point, but It definitely wasn't since I have owned the bike. When I took everything apart I realized...

    Wanted - Clutch Thrust Washer

Thanks. I'm not too far from Oakville. I'm hoping to track one down a bit sooner, but If I'm still looking I'll check back with you if a couple weeks. I did see that, but after shipping and duty that would be a very expensive washer.

    Wanted - Clutch Thrust Washer

I am trying to track down a clutch thrust washer and I was wondering anyone has an extra one? I have attached a photo of what I am looking for. It's the washer indicated with a blue dot. There are two but I only need one. It is 25mm ID, x 50mm OD x 2mm thick. I'm in Ontario Canada but...

What have you done to your XS today?

I did test it. I got over 6 lbs before it spins. The bike is tuned well and fires up on the first kick usually, so it shouldn't be too much strain on the starter. I own two XS650s and I've never started one with the starter before today so I didn't know what to expect. I don't know if they...

What have you done to your XS today?

Did the old squeeze the spring in a vice trick to try to get the starter to work on my '84 today. It worked as far as the starter will start the bike now, but it still sounds like its grinding. Is that normal or did I not do something properly?

Tracked down some NOS tank emblems to replace the ill-fitting ones that were on the bike when I got it.

What have you done to your XS today?

Finished my wiring today. Complete scratch built harness. The only original wires are the two from the rear brake switch. Everything is accessible from the right side cover. Now all that is left is to sort out the front brake and this bike is ready to hit the road.

What have you done to your XS today?

Made some good progress on wiring. With the exception of a couple of grounds, all the wires have been run. Hopefully by the end of the weekend it should look like something that resembles a harness.
