    New Toy

First attempt at using the English Wheel. Aluminum flashing, very light. I'm reasonably pleased with the outcome, bearing in mind that it's a rough pattern for test purposes. Rolled the belly in it and then stuck the flanges in the brake and squeezed them back flat. I expect rolling the...

    New Toy

No, sadly, just the one. An assortment from Eastwood will work with it but cost almost as much as the machine. I'll play with what I have and if it looks useful (and I can figure out how to use it properly) I'll spring for the extras.

    New Toy

Finally caught a 15% coupon at Horror Fright and sprung for an English Wheel. Assembled it this morning, seems quite well made for The Land of Almost Right. Be a couple of days before I can get to the finger-pinching, we'll see how much perfectly good metal I can turn into scrap.

Reinstalling the carbs on my 76 XS650.

Heat is your friend. Try warming up the manifold rubbers with a hair dryer.

Mrs. Downeaster did it again - "You enjoy modeling so much, why don't you spend a little money and ..."

"get one of those prefab sheds and have a place just for your models?" Initially, that seemed like an excellent idea and one I should jump on before she changed her mind. The existing space is roughly 10x14 wall-to-wall, but there are benches and shelves and desks and such on all four walls so...

    Really neat 3D print file

Found this while checking my account stats on Thingiverse and thought it was perfect for my diorama. I may print out another and do a little more detailed painting. Amazing print quality, everything snaps together and fits perfectly.

    Expensive Day...

Hopped in the truck to go get some underlayment for a project, turned the key and....clickety-clickety-click. Did manage to convince it to start and had NAPA test the battery. Bad, way down on cranking amps, charge state iffy. Well, after 11 years (OEM) I guess it don't owe me much. Swapped...

    Modeling Trees.

Thought I'd take a shot at modeling some birch trees. Same wire armature, just much thinner trunk with single branches rather than limbs. Trunk and branches then coated with a mixture of Plaster of Paris and PVA glue thinned with a water and a drop of detergent. Result then speckled with...

    Interesting motorcycles, not XS650

Oh my... It's a shame I don't have several thousand dollars, a shop full of equipment and the skills to build that. It's JUST the way I'd do it.
