Rewiring bike with fresh made harness
can I make a 3pin connector for Pamco to the e-advance, and then just ground off of the coil side somewhere else?
trying to think of clean ways to do this.
It seems ok but wasn’t sure if that ground is interrupted by the operation of the unit at all
What are option for swapping brakes on 74 TX650?
Original was pitted and seized, cheap knock off replacement was filled with problems, seals that wouldn’t hold pressure etc... spent a lot of time swapping lines, masters.... just want to move to a new direction.
I would like to avoid...
thank you! Good opinions!
i have to read that thread closer, but I originally wrote off them pamco as ‘OK’ since the coil was getting a signal (timed well), but I’ll look closer there as well
I‘ve swapped coils chasing this... sometimes it goes from cold motor to failing in just a few moments, I think that would be short for the coil to get heat soaked. Although anything’s possible...
Yeah I think we’re pointing to making a new wiring harness and maybe switches too.
the grounds do seem to test ok, I think what might be happening is vibration from running is aggravating a poor connection or ground. It generally starts right up but a few moments-minutes a cylinder will start...
I have a few other threads, but. I’m having an issue running: intermittent cylinder dying, switches sides, fresh battery. Has Pamco, single coil (Honda), have used diff coils to rule out.
It was suggested to wire battery directly to coil to see if that works, which would indicate issue in...
I bought new plugs and going to try today to rule out but....
I was doing some searching and found my own post from 2017 with some issues that I think are related. I had Honestly forgot about them and the bike sat for quite a bit the last few years. It had really excessive pop-stalls at idle...
Ahh shoot must have been coincidence. Started today but cylinder quickly started to miss and then completely stopped firing.
Noticed it doesn’t charge at 1k rpm (one cylinder) but it’s 14.4v at 1600 rpm. Seems about normal.
I swapped out for a diff, charged , known good battery. It fired...
With battery fresh and charged I’m still has having issue. The right cylinder Seems not to be firing.
the ignition is firing, hooked up a test light. Timing was dbl checked very recently.
on top of that, I had carbs out to try 22.5 Pilots. I have no reason to think it’s not getting fuel. I...
Plot thickens.... I ve been having a lot of trouble keeping it running now period, and very hard to start (kick only)
retested batter and now was only 11.7
maybe battery was getting weak without me realizing it. I had checked recently and was charging ok but something may have changed
Hmm not really sure what happened but I got myself in left field.
now I’m having considerable trouble getting the bike to idle. It’s difficult to start, and now once warm it stalls almost immediately when I pull in the clutch or stop. Then it’s very difficult to re-start.
I tried quickly...
...and being smart, I left electric start out (it was out before rebuild and I left it that way)
I never notice clutch slip unless I’m trying to bump it while it’s rolling downhill! Ha!
il try this though to look for a difference
Trying to dial in tune on fresh rebuild of 74 with stock bore. About 120mikes on build now.
VM34 - PJ:25. MJ:180
Air screw only .5 turn but it already doesn’t really like choke; so I didn’t try 27.5
Pamco ignition and advance - timing looks good. Single coil.
Idle ~ 1200 rpm
New plugs...
I have a 790! Has a few flaws but I like it.
I’ve been on my XS a lot lately as I just rebuilt it and trying to get break-in miles on it. I took the 790 out last night and kinda giggle how smooth and quick it is compared to the XS, lol
Sooo... yeah the yellow wire on the light was the ground, not black.
looks like if I want to keep the brake light on dash I need a resistor though, it flickers.
actual brake light works as expected though
Replaced tail light with LED assembly and having issues.
Original one worked fine, was just looking nvm for brighter and tidier.
With LED, Signal on dash is flashing, whole assembly goes off if I hit the brakes. I figured this was from cheap assembly but I noticed if all is unplugged, the...
