    UK Brat Build (Engine first)

Hi Paul Thanks, yes those were fun to make. I’d seen some similar and had a go. I would make them differently if I do them again - mainly around how the plexi seats and seals. Always good fun to try something else... downside is it normally leads to “needing” new tools

Thanks Guys, you’re both right of course. Always worth trying something but as you say, I do have high standards and my “engraving” skills and equipment aren’t up to the task. So, I’ll leave that to someone else. It’ll be worth investigating who can do it here in the UK and a cost. Or.. I may...

You’re absolutely right! I might be a decent engineer, but engraver I’m not. Perhaps with the right equipment. Like you say a pneumatic engraving machine would be perfect but I couldn’t justify the spend. ... maybe stick to polishing

Hi, So, the red wire from the blue box should go to the switched side of your ignition switch - ie the side that goes live when you switch the key / switch and goes live to your battery feed. This is where the +ve terminal from the black Gill coil goes to too. Earth the white wire to the...

Hi, I did look at those. They appear to be balls pressed into the casing where the drilling crosses over to seal it. I think the powder coat has covered them so I’ll leave as they are.

Just an hour today. Swapped out the front chain guide bolts and collets. Fitted the oil pipe too. Also had a play with the Dremel on the old casing..... not sure, more practice maybe

Thanks Raymond, After tonight’s announcement, I’ll have plenty of time! Thinking about engraving the covers. I’ve plenty of time to learn

Hey Jim, Yes, exactly! It would be very easy to miss and I don’t think they would take much shaking out. I suppose on the positive side, they’re too long rather than too short

    UK Brat Build (Engine first)

One of those days where everything is fighting you But we got there in the end! First challenge of the day - the cam chain tensioner. The formed steel plate that bolts it to the barrels was quite clearly made by a blind yetti with a four pound hammer. So, that had to be re-fashioned properly...

A few hours today... Clutch cleaned and the steel plates finished as they were in a poor state. Not worn or warped just light surface rusting / staining I know you can’t see the clutch but it got a polish any way, along with the springs and bolts PMA and new sprocket attached too

Hi Jan, I bought mine a few years ago now, so I can’t remember who or where it came from. However, a quick look on line throws up a lot of similar products. For example, here There is also an interesting tutorial on YouTube here I have been very impressed with mine and as long as everything...

    UK Brat Build (Engine first)

Happy New Year to one and all! With no hangover to nurse and little else to do, it was a good shout to crack on with the engine. Fairly mundane and tedious today, with everything being cleaned, wire wheeled and / or polished (including every nut and bolt ). Cleaned out both cases and cleaned...
