Hello,
Real minor issue, just looking for some thoughts for others
Bikes running and riding fine (actually pretty good if i do say so), but its started dripping gas out of one of the carb overflow tubes when its sitting. It isn't a constant drip, seems to drip some then stop...then a...
Hey All,
'79 Special II, all stock engine.
Earlier this year I de-restricted my exhaust a bit (punched 1/2" hole in the stock baffle) and have really enjoyed the improved "Oomph" in the motor...and the sound is perfect for me.
However, the other day I was thinking that perhaps I...
Hello fellow XS650 enthusiasts,
I am having an issue which I don't know what causes it. My 1981 xs650 vibrates like crazy.
I have just finished another tune-up: adjusted cam chain tensioner, adjusted valves, tried adjusting timing with a newly bought strobe light and realized that my model...
One of the spiffs of working at an automotive school is access to fun toys. I had set up my carbs using normal methods in the fall. I suspected my idle mixture was a tad rich as my most stable idle was found with my idle mixture screw pretty much all the way in running a 45 pilot jet. I...
Hi guys.
I am so lost!
PMA installed, New coils, New plugs, new caps, new points and condenser. Cleaned carbs several times, also ilde screw hole. Cleaned the really filty petcocks, new gaskets in them. Also changed fuel filters. No air leaks.
I re-checked point gap, and found out that the...
When I pulled my carbs apart the choke feed tube was just sitting in the bowl.. Do I need this for the bike to run or no.. Anyway I can fix it?. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
...And, I'm pretty much down to rejetting the carbs. I've read through just about every other thread about it until my head hurts. I'm rolling pennies to try and finish this thing up so, any help on jet sizes will be greatly appreciated. I'll try to answer the main questions that I've seen...
Getting this '75 XS650 ready to ride, I took off the air filters. The boxes and screens are fine, but the foam inserts are pretty rotten. Looked on MikesXS, but I don't see just the foam inserts for sale, and the boxes are too expensive to replace for no reason. Can I just cut some furniture...
Bike: 78 xs650SE, BS38 Carbs
History: Bike is in mid build (running and riding). I have one of those fancy dancy glass fuel filters with the replaceable filter element inside. I recently rebuilt the carbs with the kits from MikesXS and cleaned them thoroughly during the rebuild. Bike runs...
The scoot has been sputtering horribly lately. I couldn't figure out why. I thoroughly cleaned the carbs, replaced spark plugs, cables, and caps, etc., etc., etc... When I would get about halfway back on the throttle... Sputter. When I hit a bump... Sputter. There are A LOT of bumps in Johnstown...
Does anyone have or know how to locate a greensand Foundry 2 into 1 intake manifold? I want the one that mounts the carb right in front of the down tube. I have looked on line till my eyes crossed and can find pictures of them but no leads on where to buy one. I want to use a Mikuni carb.
Did my air fuel mixture adj. a few weeks ago and had it running well. Sat for 2-3 weeks without starting, fired it up today and upon start-up the RPM's were at about 2500-3000. Shut it off and tried starting it again... loud backfire. Pulled the plugs and they were wet. Pulled the stock air box...
Long term loaned my xs650 1981 to someone and when it came back there are several missing rubber hoses on the Carbs.
If someone could send me a close up photo of the left side of the carbs, with carbs on the engine, it would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance and I know now not to loan it...
Good morning,
I just needed to say to all people who dont know what you are doing please stay away from screw drivers, or anything else that could cause damage to things that you have no idea what they do or how they work.
This morning I thought I would rebuild my carborators and low and...
I've just gotten to tearing down the carbs on my 1977 model xs650.
I've identified the carbs as being from a 1978 model, except the previous owner had put slides from a 74-75 model (4n8 needle in it), it was jetted as if it were a 77, sync was blatantly off, thing is just a mess.
Anyway...
I put my bike away for the winter with a bad case of carburettor flu. Gasoline was poring out of one of my carbs. Bike was running fine. Took the carbs of and checked and cleaned them. Replaced all hoses as well. I put the carbs back on the bike today and now it's blowing air out through the...
