enricher on xs2

Can someone jump on and tell me how big of a deal is it to repair or replace the enricher/choke assembly on my XS2? Second question which should have been first is, would a faulty choke/enricher assembly make the bike hard to start or run rich or lean? Answers to both would be greatly...
