    Holes in muffler...by design?

    Still quite new to a so-so, but running '77 xs650 that I bought a month ago. I do have a service manual on the way, but not here yet, so please forgive some silly questions meanwhile. Bike has 24k miles. Starts after the 5th, 6th...or 10th kick. When it gets warm, maybe 10-15 minutes...
