A fuel tank came with my project 75 xs650 and has been painted multiple times obviously. Is there a way to identify whether this is a stock yamaha xs650 tank? are there particular dimensions, or markings on the bare metal i can look for, petcock mounting holes, etc...

I have a 5v4 -006780 case I bought to replace the broken case I have, it's a:banghead: 447-127262. My plan, as dumb as it may be, is to rebuild and transfer the internals of one to another. While doing certain upgrades. Did I just waste my money, or are cases for these the same? Mine is a 75...
