The welder was a fan of NASCAR driver John Kenney, who in 1970 drove car number 77. He stamped "77" into all of the frames he welded as a tribute, until Mr. Yamaha found out and made him stop.

I’m just very curious. The 77 and Kenney are a match and it makes for a great story. @DogBunny, please don’t take that as me calling you out. It was not my intent.

The stamped 77 looked to me like a NASCAR number logo. I did a little research, and found out who drove #77 in 1970. I made the rest up.
