Yes, power in is AC on the 3 white wires from the alternator. The then converted DC power goes out to the battery. That's what a rectifier does, converts AC to DC. And basically, a rectifier is a rectifier is a rectifier. They're all pretty much the same as far as their function goes. That's why we're able to use any of numerous examples from the electronics world. The rectifier isn't automotive specific, any that meet the specs you need (number of phases, amp rating) will work. That Windy Nations unit is a proven one for use on the 650. I've had one on mine for several years now. A bit more expensive than some of the really cheap Chinese ones on eBay, but it's a proven unit. And I don't think the around $10 cost is that bad.
