1980 CDI cam Can't use points ?

easy and cheaper to keep running with points. specially on the side of the road.
There's no doubting simple and reliable are very good traits in most things. I have done road side repairs myself in the past.

You might change your mind when you find out that the new (but Chinese) points and condenser you are carrying around and try to use are useless because they're junk. After having dead on arrival points and condenser I looked at buying genuine Yamaha spares but they cost around 2/3 the price of a complete Boyer Bransden ignition kit. So I bought the BB kit.

IMO, the quality of aftermarket ignition components like points and condensers is at an all time low.

1980 CDI cam Can't use points ? Can I put bushings in it ? so I can use points.or do i have to change cam. I have lots of 650 parts and bikes.

I have read here on the forum that the cams post 1980 are not machined in the seat for the Bushing
No need do it on the factory
So when smashing it in ( Bushing ) the cam can crack In some cases.
I believe it can work Unknown if any grinding or so has taken place.
