Recently picked up a 1980 GS450L and I’m trying to revive it from sitting for 25 years.

I have searched many forums and dug around in the manual and cannot for the life of me find out where the petcock vacuum line connects to the carbs?

On XS it is on the intake not on the carbs --- the brass sticking out

Woah, Thank you so much! I don’t think my intakes have that… I wonder if I have aftermarket intakes. So then should there be 2 hoses coming from the petcock going to the 2 intakes?

Awesome thanks! Ya I felt like I was infiltrating the XS world a little 😂. Although I wanted a XS instead of the GS but couldn’t find one for the right price. Love the kick start

Yea, how dare your bring an enemy into the only bike that matters forum.🤣.

Didn't know if you knew about GSresourses. I have an 82 GS650Ez. With a thread on here. A lot of guys have thread builds on non XS650 bikes, so a lot of knowledge on other bikes. Thing about that era Suzie's is the ran mikuni CV carbs so there is a bit of crossover on some of the parts. Same part can often be cheaper from Suzuki than Yamaha.

Your welcome here and so is a build thread on the 450

I think the hose Jan mentioned is a float bowl vent. However, there does appear to be one vacuum line, coming off the left carb. Look at the very last pic in that link Jan gave you.

Are you referencing the circled portion?

Weirdly mine just has a hole where that Barb is supposed to be. Doesn’t seem to be a part you can locate anywhere either
