1980 XS650 special carb hoses

Hey guys, I have a 1980 XS650 special and see that on the carb boots that attach to the motor they have a small nipple that a hose attaches too. My bike has a petcock that has one line coming off to a tee that feeds into both carbs then it has a hose that goes into the left side carb boot. But the other carb boot has nothing connecting to it. Is this correct? Or is a hose supposed to connect to both of those nipples?

If the fuel is flowing ok then just plug the the the exposed open port.

Cheap rubber caps will blow right back off and soon crack, a bit of fuel line and a ball bearing make a good vacuum port cap, use clamps.
