Late update: the rotor from Jim resolved my issues and it is now running great. Charging at 14.8-15 when revving

That’s typical. It’s likely to not ever fail again.

I had the same problems on my 80, it was the combined regulator/rectifier that tired. Once replaced by a new modern one, no more worries about charging.

Aftermarket combined SS reg/rec have been found wanting. Some overcharge from the get go. Others don't last long.
Can b a crap shoot.

Pretty much a guaranteed foolproof upgrade.
