Hello all,
I’m looking to part with my 1981 xs650 special that has been more of a love/hate relationship with me. I got the bike as a project a couple of years ago and slowly pieced things together. It’s far from flawless and that’s partly why I am trying to get rid of it, also because I am going to Europe for a long term stay and it’s really just taking up space

Started as a rough parts bike, I disassembled it down to the frame and cleaned it up, and started ordering parts.
Key aftermarket parts include:
Hugh’s handbuilt pma and electronic ignition kit
Battery delete, with capacitor all wired and ready to go
750 jug and piston kit
Counter balance cycles seat
Vm34 carburetor kit, pre tuned by speedmotoco

And then basically all the little cafe/brat style doo dads.

The bike runs and rides, although it has some oil leakage from the left side cam cover, and either the shift selector seal and/or counter shaft seal.

I rode it about 80 miles a few weeks ago and haven’t really touched it much since.

It is still a bit of a project but in the right hands could be dialed in pretty easily.
Comes with tons of spares too, an entire other bottom end, other jugs, etc.

I’m only asking for $1200 and you’d get that out of the pma/ignition kit, carbs, and seat alone. Open to close offers.
Shoot me a message or call/text 203-427-7932

Hi "Cam" ,Denny from southern Maine I will give you 800.00 no problem, Im an old expert flat tracker and your bike and accessories are exactly what I'm looking for.I have a problem though and that would be picking it up. I just crashed my truck and my buddy isn't in the lending mood for his. I was wondering for a fee if you could bring it over. this isn't any kind of scam, I'm just a 70 year old country boy that needs a project .please let me know if this is something you would entertain. I would be grateful beyond words .I'ts approx. a 500 mile round trip (doesn't look that far on the map but that's what it says. Address is Dennis Scribner,24 Scribner hill Road ,Otisfield ,Maine Ph#207 592 0656. No hurry ,take your time to think about it......Cheers,Denny
