Purchased this 1981 XV750 bike new in April 1981 and drove for many years keeping it in immaculate shape and end up selling it about 15 years ago, 2 years ago the person i sold it to, sold it back covered in dust and grime, he never used it just stored it away. Cleaned it up, changed filter, all fluids, flushed carbs with carb cleaner, clutch plates were stuck engaged, (freed up), gas tank very little spotted rust (flushed), and completely went over it.
Really didn't find much wrong, new battery fresh gas and started right up and put about 85 km last summer.
This is what it still looks like, (note the exhaust system) i made it up from the original centre mix chamber adding welded outlets with after market slip-on mufflers with custom make baffles, that was done 25 year ago.
Plan to drive it again this summer along with my 1976 XS650 with classic insurance on them.
They are proof the old bikes if maintained will last a long time.

Your '76C with Bountiful Blue '77D bodywork...nice!!
That’s correct Wagner73, tank is 1977 blue and side covers are black outside with 1972 brilliant red on inside.
Still using original style points with also original adjustable voltage regulator and new old style rectifier made by Tony at Oregon motorcycle parts.
