1983 XS650 Wildly overcharging battery

Rectifier polarity correct, guessing fuse would blow if not.
Key on, the rotor should magnetize?
Need to try this.
Ohm the rotor, would that be between the 2 brush screws with wires disconnected ?
What is an acceptable reading ?

Ohm the rotor,
directly ring to ring with an ohm meter should be 5.4 to 5.7 ohms after the meter stops dropping.
It's hard to get a lead directly on the inner ring. Remove either a brush or the stator.
I'm using a drywall screw to get into the ring in this pic, A piece of copper (from some house wire?) would be better.

Yes brush green to regulator green had 60 ish ohms, not a dead short.
Have not looked into wiring since.

Should the wire under the circled screw terminal have +12 volts when key is on?
Magnet test failing.

Got it, thanks.
Brown wire at regulator getting switched 12 volts.
Losing the +12 volts for some reason at the brush. Will keep digging.
