700cc kit with a Shell #1 cam in a 78XS650E

You need a HP vs torque vs Db chart.....
;^)
Still late BS38s?
The sound is not bad at all. I was worried, but I think because the core is actually louvered, it is rather civilized.

played with a few more settings. This is still my best configuration. The only thing i ended up doing is stepping up the mains to 152.5. Next, if I ever get to it, try simple 1.5" headers. The bike got torque for days and loves a curvy mountain road in 3rd or 4th gear. Don;t even need to shift. gets 45 miles/gallon

Last weekend I took the bike on a 100 mile ride and filled the tank prior and after the trip to estimate the fuel milage. Got ~49 miles to a gallon. Way more efficient than prior to the rebuild. The trip consisted of about 50% highway and 50% mountain road. The milage might have come out this high because the engine spent most of its time between 3K and 5K rpm, right around the torque peak, which is the sweet spot for this configuration.

FWIW, I have two stock Specials set up the same. One has a 34 tooth rear sprocket, the other a 33. To confirm your words, both of mine get the same fuel economy.
