Hey guys, just dialing in a bunch of headaches on my 78 xs chopper. It’s started doing this thing when I shift up where it sticks and I have to manually push it back down before it’ll go up again. I had just done the clutch adjustment as outlined here, and otherwise the clutch action is great. Insights?

Had the same problem a few yrs back. A piece of metal worked it's way in between the shaft and the chain guard. Don't ask me how.
Cleaned it all up, greased it and good ever since.

If that doesn't fix the issue then maybe one of the little springs on the other end of the shift shaft, under the right cover, has broken .....

My best guess would be the torsion spring at the bottom on the adjuster screw. That's what returns the shift lever to center after shifting.

Hadn’t thought of that either, thanks a bunch!
