78 XS650e build

^^^ +1. That Dynatek ignition system is well worth looking after if it's still good. I can see it's wired to what looks like the two original ignition coils. I'd be drawing a diagram and taking pictures of how that all wires together.

Regarding the alternator and charging system, it's well worth reading the information in the forum technical section about testing the rotor/stator. Also converting to modern industry standard rectifier and regulator.
The wife is a wonderfullll artist and she’ll be helping me through the process(gear head her self:)) so ill ask her to hep draw up a diagram😌

Btw... it's not my intention to change your mind on carb buying, just throwing out ideas...
You be you.

No no thank you dearly, the first set is priced SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper then what Im looking at so if they’re still here when I get paid hey why not🤷🏻‍♀️That carb website you posted looks quite intriguing too👀

Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on getting a fuze box to centralize majority of my wiring? Would it prove beneficial or more of a headache for what I plan on doing.
Absolutely worth doing. I did it with my '80 SG resto. Mounted it under the right side cover.

One thing of note: the Chinese fuses (not the holder) are garbage. Worse, they are dangerous. One forum member was involved in a test where it turned out a 10A fuse would sometimes take up to 40-50 amps before it blew. :yikes:
Don't use the cheapies... name brands only. That goes for your other vehicles also.

Wow! That looks amazingly organized, does that location not affect gas tank placement?? And would you recommend a 4 or 6 module??

It's under the right (plastic) sidecover where the air filters used to reside. Not close to the tank.

4 or 6 depends on how much you want to split out and fuse individual circuits. 4 seems enough.

Ahh I see on the side of the battery box

Pulled the carbs, absolutely nasty and have em drying out and getting ready to clean, anything anyone sees that I don’t??

Those look like aftermarket VM-34's.
Your bike came with BS-38's.
I see no corrosion so I'd guess they'll clean up just fine.
Only down side to 'em is they're both left hand carbs.
That puts the right carb choke and idle screw on the inside between the carbs.

I thought it seemed a little off while I was taking em off, I’m glad to know there's no corrosion tho. I assume its fine(for the time being) to use both left ones till I upgrade??
