Put the stater and roter up for sale on here. People are regulary looking for factory rotors to rewind.

Vacuum taps are all one size. Manual taps have closer spacing. I can get you the numbers, but not just now. There's two different sizes far as the screw spacing goes , so it's not one size fits all like the advert suggests. There might be something in Tech that spells out the sizes... not sure.![]()

The year model of the tank can tell you.
As example, the XS1100 standard has vacuum fuel taps. The Special has manual. The closer bolt spacing applies to the Special.
Are you replacing vacuum taps?I went through the tech manuals and did some searching on various oem part finders and I found the petcock assemblies(2F0-24500). With a few google search's it seems the OEM versions (from78-84) had 46mm spacing and were vacuum operated compared to manual.
It would seem then the aftermarket set from amotopart would work.
yes I will be, The previous PO's left me with a rust filled mess in the tank and at some point their were BB's added to the tank that lodged their way into the petcocks. So currently we have the tank sitting in the por-15 solution before starting the sealant process here soon. Ill need new petcocks to eliminate first the BB's and also the rust I'm sure made its way through. Are you replacing vacuum taps?
you are a godsend my friend!!!46 mm is the correct bolt spacing for the vacuum taps.
The aftermarket manual replacement taps I have on hand are 42 mm spacing.
If there is enough meat in the fuel tap mounting boss and tank boss I suggest using M8, if not enough margin in the faces go for M7.
Second to last resort solder a plate over the holes and run one tap.
Last resort new tank.
Helicoil?A few weeks have passed and I've run into a issue. The two holes that are used to screw the petcocks down are stripped(specifically both left hand ones. I've attempted everything from lock-tight to using a slightly larger imperial screw and nothing seems to be sitting. Would it be advisable to tap the holes for a M7 screw or just buy a new tank.
this is new to me, never even thought of them tbh. would the little notch at the bottom of the helicoil interfere with the screw sinking all the way?Helicoil?
With a bit of research I found this thread: https://www.xs650.com/threads/petcock-and-fuel-line-routing.64786/
unfortunately it seems the OP's stopped posting so I'm unsure if it ended up working for them. The idea of running two lines rom one petcock sounds like a goo solution; come retaping doesn't work, Any thoughts or opinions? the OP's mentioned completely removing the main air jet but again they stopped posting so I'm unsure how it worked or was affected.
It's called a "tang." After you get the helicoil properly situated, you break the tang off. Helicoils were designed with exactly your situation in mind.this is new to me, never even thought of them tbh. would the little notch at the bottom of the helicoil interfere with the screw sinking all the way?

I believer those are 6mm fasteners, no?
