78 XS650e build

I have the vision of a bare bones “Mad Max style” racer. I plan on only running headlights and tail lights. The PMA helps fit the bare no/limited wiring look, as well as from my understanding a better more consistent charging system??Additionally my electrical experience is limited outside of replacing office light ballasts. So it seems simpler for my smooth brain😂

I’ve printed and noted a wiring diagram I’d like to use, I’m still unsure in the capacitor tho.

I'm on the fence about the capacitor, I've been running the pros and cons through my head.

pros:
Fits build idea
simplistic wiring
wont leave me stranded
weight reduction
I'm already kick only

Cons:
possible overheating of electronics
Possible electric surges or improper voltage
Dimming/flickering lights
fear my current Dyna wont agree with the capacitor

Plus more I'm sure you wonderful folks could inform me on.;)

You could use a small lithium battery. Since it's kick only, it could be a small one that's pretty easy to hide. I'm sure your Dyna box would be happier with that.
And if you kept a battery, you could forget the PMA and fix up your stock charging sys.

Prolly be cheaper that way too.

From what I've read the last few yrs, the (most likely) Chinese capacitor is more likely to leave you stranded than a battery.

With fixing the previous charging system I wouldn't even know where to start, I imagine I can buy the reg/rec together then its just rewiring the rotor and checking voltage? I know I'll need a multimeter and I do believe I know someone who sells re-round rotors;)

^^^^^ Absolutely, what they said!

I’ve messaged a few sellers to make sure all the screw holes aren't stripped as well as checking various stages of rusting in them as well. I found a few that I like but I'm still searching for the nice green that came mounted on the 78’s👀the search will prove successful soon hopefully when I discuss with a couple buyers
The '78 Spruce Green is much scarcer than the Star Black, so you will be having the best of luck if you find one!😄

But, as others have opined, painting could be a doable solution. Then you could focus on the best tank quality, immaterial of color. And tank quality may be more important (?). Best of luck in your search!

It'd be more then easy to lay down some tape and breakout the gas mask to paint😂Quality will be beat beauty any day of the week

Unfortunately, at one point I had exactly what you want, a cherry 78E tank but sold it middle of last year to a forum member. So, it is possible to find good ones...

And your word choice is certainly your own (and if intentional, props for creativity!) but I wasn't illustrating the whole poem versus the portion you used, but instead wonder -> wander.😊
that was a beautiful tank. I was too late to buy it off of you.

Unfortunately tax returns take ages so we're finally ordering parts today, I've settled with the PMA, simply because I'm lazy and have close to ZERO electrical experience, Additionally we're ordering new coils and a wire/connector kit from vintage collections.

My question currently is, Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on a boyer bransden power box (https://tcbros.com/products/boyer-bransden-power-box-3-phase-battery-eliminator) If not I plan on buying a smaller lithium battery as recommended.

Took apart and unhooked all the electrical(par leaving the coils on the frame) We Labeled all the ends to there proper receivers as well dis-connecting the old regulator and rectifier, tomorrow we shall lift her and start re hooking everything from the alternator up.
