Greetings everybody!
I am attempting to figure out why my running light has stopped working and am taking this opportunity to remove the (potential) culprit. My main question is; if I completely remove the light checker relay (7 wire configuration, not older 3 wire) which wires get joined together? I’m assuming the solution here is to manually redo all these connections as the light checker will no longer be there to act as a junction. Any input is appreciated as I am very inexperienced with all things electrical.

Hi Willbur, welcome to the forum!

You have definitely come to the right place for help with all aspects of sorting, running, anything to do with XS650s. Deleting the light checker is a common mod and I've done it meself. But my wiring is now very simplified compared with stock so I can't help you with which wires need to be linked. But you will fine the answer in the Tech section - go top of page, Tech, do a search on lights checker and there'll be a thread. Or someone will happen along here and give you the answer of the top of their head.

See you around, Raymond

The grey box in the pic is the reserve lighting unit. For the headlight failure.
Do a search for "reserve lighting unit" or check the tech menu under electrics.
Just looked don't think it's in the tech menu. Found this in a search

If this fails the white light in the tower will come on.

Light checker is for a failure in the taillight brake or running taillight will trigger the red light in the tower
