Wanted - '80 to '83 Stator (might consider older)

I have a 1981 XS650. Does anyone know what year stators will fit this? I assume 1980 thru 1983 are fine, but will any earlier years work? Thanks in advance.

Depends. Are you using the stock TCI ignition? If you are, '80-'83 are all that will work.
If you're not using the stock TCI, any year will work.... '70 thru '83

Justa thought... I drew up a conversion drawing to convert an old style stator to a TCI stator a few yrs ago.
I verified it works on my run stand.
Just food for thought...

Charging was struggling to get to 13 volts and one leg tested dead.

Thanks Jim. I am using stock TCI on this. If anyone has a 1980 - 1983 stator they are willing to sell, please let me know.

If you do get an earlier one and put your TCI pickup on it, change your brush holder over as well

If I am a little slow to respond, I am on a trip. It was supposed to be a motorcycle trip, but is now a pickup towing 2 XS650s trip.
Oh well, atg least I am still on vacation.
