Ageing out or The Crossroads

I may be the record youngest member of this forum at 19 going on 20… any challengers?

On the bright side all you geezers (no offense) have much, much more wisdom about these bikes than I do and it’s a great help.
Get off our lawn!

I'd have to write a small book.
You really need a thorough evaluation and then therapy specific to your results. Conducted by a Vision Therapist, not a plain-Jane ophthalmologist.
Having said that, there are tons of on-line tools and videos. Google vision therapy and your condition.
Also, Google "eye stretches." Everyone can benefit from them.

Above link shows a small fraction of vision therapy tools.
Thank you @DogBunny, I've been to an optometrist and he gave me referral to an ophthalmic surgeon. There's more than one problem with my visual system, it's not just a case of buying the right pair of specs and it's difficult to find an appropriate therapy. Looked at the results from googling eye stretches and I think I probably do a few of those exercises already. Will continue to do eye exercises.

But today, beautiful sunshine, rode Polly, W800, down to Berwickshire to visit a stone supplier, 60 mile round trip. While my vision is not correct, it's good enough to enjoy the ride and didn't frighten meself. Much.

I would see if there is a Vision Therapist in your area. In all of Austin (11th largest U.S. city) there are only a small few.
If there is one in your area, I would take that as a sign that you should have them evaluate you.
Medicare paid a lot of mine, but it was still pretty expensive.

I never knew there was a such a thing as vision therapy, and wish I'd known and started a lot earlier.

I'm highly offended. My feelings are hurt. Wah wah wah.

Wait, no I'm not. It's gonna take a whole lot to hurt feelings I don't have.

Does any part of this therapy involve going for a walk on a nice day with my glasses left at home? I’m definitely going to follow your link.

Ah, the joys, trials and tribulations of aging. My folks are the classic "boomers"('46 and '48), and I'm right at the start of GenX('66). Dad has very limited mobility due to a stroke about 10 years ago, he can drive but that's about it, needs a scooter. Mom had hers a few years later, not as significant (it really helps if you actually see a Dr. immediately vs. trying to "walk it off" as Dad did), she's mobile but has limited use of one arm. And last week Dad's wife fell and broke her hip. Oy. But here's the scary part- I was at the pharmacy today picking up step-Mom's drugs, and I hear a scooter pull up in line behind me. Some old man, grumbling to himself about how everything and everyone sucks, blah, blah, blah. So while I'm getting what I need they call him up, I sneak a glance over, scooter guy looks to be about my Dad's age, and pretty well "stove up." Pharmacists asks his date of birth- '70! Dude is 4 years younger than me! I "retired" at the end of January this year, I really hope to get at least 5 years of riding and flying in before my own body craps out, the genetics say it'll hit me about age 70. But I have become an expert on various electric scooters/chair designs, and I'll say this- no one who designed these things ever had to use one daily.

My neighbour is 84. Still rides his Velocette Venom.
Here in the UK, we get a congratulatory Telegram from the Queen/King. On our 100th birthday.
A former Motorcycle dealer/ Manufacturer. Len Vale Onslow. Rode a motorcycle if his own making to the Palace to collect his Telegram in person.
On his 100th birthday. Good man.

You have no idea how close to home this hits, the first part anyway, hopefully not the later.
Between one hip, one knee and one foot I truly hobble about all the time. The knee started about a month ago and I think it's due to favoring the other two.
The worst thing is getting back up off the ground. Forced myself to change the oil in my car this passed weekend, only because the weather was decent and I had the stuff already. Glad I did, older car, 2003 Impala with low miles I got from my brother a couple years ago. In that time I've only had someone else change the oil twice, both quick change places and during the winter. Both times I've found the filter to be barely hand tight the next time I changed it.
I keep doing what I need to do around the yard on weekends and pay for it Sunday night. My wife always asks why I don't take a hot salts bath. It's because it's too damned hard to get out of the tub. Those walk in jobs are getting more attractive all the time

When people apologize because they think they hurt my feelings I just tell them they can’t hurt my feelings cuz I’m married…

My youngest (a daughter) and I are very close and can razz on each other pretty much without limit. When I get in a real zinger, she usually says "Ya know, that'd hurt my feelings, if I had any..." And trust me, she gives as good as she gets. Apples and trees, ya know...
