Alternate off-road bike suggestions.

I can see the frame's red under that nasty black. The red and silver 305's are my favorite. Here's what it can look like.

Ok sports fans… what did I get myself into?

This popped up on Marketplace not too far from me. It’s mostly there but it’s rough. My wife is not going to be happy with me. A bit more of a project than I was hoping for, but these don’t pop up in my area very often. Motor turns reluctantly and no title. All the sheet metal is pretty straight and the tank is clean inside. It was painted with a brush and has an inspection sticker on the rear fender from 1976. The guy I got it from picked it up at the Barber swap meet last year.
I agree with others who commented. Just get it running well, but it looks great the way it is. Besides the knobby tires, a replica seat cover would be in order.

The few items that are missing are the intake filter to carb boots, center stand and steering stabilizer (which I am not sure it needs). The flat brushed on paint is kind of growing on me too. I really need to have a closer look at the rims to see how bad the rust is. They may end up getting a coat of satin black paint. Unfortunately I don't see where anyone makes an aftermarket rim for these. I read somewhere that a CL450 rim may be a direct bolt on though. Also saw one statement that a GL1000 could be laced using the factory rims, but not finding any other info to back that up. It's going to be hard to keep my hands off this for a while. I think for the time being i am just going to try and immerse myself in knowledge about this model and make sure I can get a title before spending any real money on it.
