Custom aluminum front motor mount kit for the 1974 and up XS650!

I’ve been making and selling Aluminum rear mounts for two years and people have asked for a front version, here’s an idea I came up with...

Simple and waaaay cooler then the fugly factory mount, consists of 6 pieces total - 2 mounts and 4 spacer spools.
Made from 3/8” 6061 alloy, CNC laser cut.
I do the hard work- sourcing the material and the machine work, and then it’s your choice:
You finish your way, would come to you with a sandblasted finish - they could be brushed with a wire wheel, disc sanded, or wet sanded and buffed to a mirror like shine!!

You buy the mounting hardware, because hey, I don’t know what you want to use..
The holes will fit SAE 3/8” or 10mm bolts.
And If you wanted you could have the spools welded to the plates, too.

Would be a nice finishing touch for that custom XS650!!

You might ask yourself:

How could I ever afford such cool sexy mounts for my XS??

Well my friend, how can you afford not to when this 6 piece kit can be yours for:

Just $45 USD plus $5.00 shipping anywhere in the USA!!!

I have the rear mounts available- normally $25 a set, you can have both front and rear for $60 USD, plus $10 for 2 day shipping.

What an outstanding offer!!

I can also ship to overseas locations with additional cost...

Front set: $45 + $5 shipping
Rear set: $25 + $5 shipping

Both sets: $60 + $10 shipping

I accept PayPal, please e mail orders to:

I haven't fitted mine yet, but one thought occurred to me - the standard mount also acts as a frame brace. Has anyone found handling suffering?

Reason I ask is because I'm considering adding thick-walled aluminium tubing between the front mounts and pulling it together with through bolts, not unlike the standard setup but somewhat prettier. Just wondering if that is really necessary or me just being over-cautious.

Anyone care to comment?

Yes, the main purpose for the monstrosity Yamaha wound up using is to act as a frame brace. Otherwise they'd have just stuck with the two plates the early bikes came with... and what these are styled after. I don't think most of us would notice the difference.
However, your bike is set up as a cafe bike Cliff. If you ride it as a cafe was intended to run... and I suspect you do, there's a good chance you'll notice the difference. I'd include the extra tubing if I were you. Fwiw, my two pennies.

Thanks, Jim. I've already ordered a 300mm length of tubing from Fleabay and I will indeed get creative with that. I don't want a weave to add to the already lively front! It's fine on good road surfaces but we have some shocking ones around here ....
Cheers -
Cliff

I've just been measuring before I try and find suitable stainless M10 bolts for the mounts and it occurred to me that the spacers could as easily go at the rear, against the engine casings, with the brackets tight to the frame. For stiffness, I can't see a difference and I will fit thick wall tubes between the brackets to brace the frame anyway. Tracy - Is there a reason why you chose to put the spacers at the front rather than the rear?

No, and yes, spacers can go against the engine cases if you wish..,

I’ve thought of that myself and was going to get pics of that style of installation to post up here...

great minds think alike...! ;)

Just sent you an email order.
Kind regards
Adam.

Mine arrived shortly after ordering.
Forgot to say thanks Tracy!
Will be fitted during the winter rebuild and rewire.
