Hi all, I’m a new member. First time posting. I recently bought a non running 1972 XS650 XS2 as a project bike. I’m finding out that there’s not much to these motorcycles but I’ve got a lot to learn working on them unlike my last project bike a 2002 BMW K1200RS a lot going on in the bike but easier to work on.

My question is about the carburetor’s. First of all the diaphragm on the right carburetor has a small hole in it and needs to be replaced and the throttle cables need to be replaced. Replacement cost is about $230. New Mikuni carbs are about $500 with cable. The new cable has a single wire at the throttle and splits to two at the carbs. should I keep working on the old carbs or just replace with easier to adjust carbs? If so Which carburetors is everyone getting? And from where? Any tips on adjusting these carburetors is appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.
