Indeed. In fact, I just did that this past summer, where I got to replace the pedal assembly at the same time. (Getting the return spring on the brake pedal was a treat!) Oh, and how about the shift rod bushing?Ever put a clutch cable in one?
It may seem masochistic but you are truely doing society a favor...Too many. Recently sold my '70 AMX 390 Go-Pac, but am hanging on to my '67 Rambler. (We're a Nash/AMC family since WW2). The Rambler was bought used at the local Rambler dealer in '69, just never went away and got freshened up in the 80's. Also a '77 F150 short bed 4x4 (freebie, a buddy called me and asked if I knew anyone who would tow it away- it needed a radiator to run. Semi rusty, but mechanically 100%) Also just sold step-Mom's '65 Rambler Classic. Between she and my Dad there's another 6 cars that I try to keep running, they are no longer able to do so, but they can drive 'em.

They are popular, and any vehicle is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, but I need it for actually hauling stuff for the foreseeable future. There's nothing about it I can't fix myself- that makes it almost invaluable to me.Is that not a $ 4000 Ford truck depending on how much Rust and Mileage
Or if you like high RPM's, put a 350 crank in a 400 SBC and you have a 377. A 383 is one heck of a torquey SOB!No, as noted above.
About the only good thing about the Chevy 400 was that you could stuff the crank into a modified 350 block and make a 383 stroker out of it. A friend and I built one for a '68 Chevy 3/4 ton 4WD. It was a snow plowing sumbitch until it shelled the ring and pinion in the front differential.
Priced out fixing it, wife said "You might as well buy a new one". Not being one to pass up a chance, I went and bought myself a brand new 1989 K3500 with a 454. Sold the 383 back to the guy who helped me build it and the rest of the truck to a guy for parts.
Bought the first Mrs. B her first car... back in the day... 65' Rambler American, 2dht...6 banger with slush box.. and the fold back " get lucky " front seats. Ooooooh ! Great Car... always loved the " Marlin " model... 67-69 ?Too many. Recently sold my '70 AMX 390 Go-Pac, but am hanging on to my '67 Rambler. (We're a Nash/AMC family since WW2). That's what my parents had when I got my license. 4 door, 3 on the tree. Two tone, dark greenish roof, light blue/teal lower. Not exactly a chick magnet. Had I not been so proud to have my license, I'd have been embarrassed to be seen in it.Bought the first Mrs. B her first car... back in the day... 65' Rambler American, 2dht...6 banger with slush box.. and the fold back " get lucky " front seats. As a young 'un you didn't real8ze how retro cool it really was...That's what my parents had when I got my license. 4 door, 3 on the tree. Two tone, dark greenish roof, light blue/teal lower. Both of my spoiled grandkids turned down their G-Grandparents like new, low mileage 97 Mercury Grand Marquis. My gain! That's what my parents had when I got my license. 4 door, 3 on the tree. Brings back memories of a dirt track racer from Savannah, Sam Sommers, who used to race a Fairlane body mounted on a '57 frame with a 427 side oiler back in the early 70's. He was one of the best.View attachment 345155 View attachment 345156 Got new tires this week for my oldest toy. Not a show car but can go anywhere I want.
That’s a good looking car right from the factory, doesn’t need a thingView attachment 345155 View attachment 345156 Got new tires this week for my oldest toy. Not a show car but can go anywhere I want.
I love those old Valiant's.I’m a vintage car guy but came to the realisation a few years ago that if it has more than two wheels I’m not particularly interested in it. It took me quite some time to accept that but I sold what will probably be my last only a few months ago - 1963 Chrysler Valiant AP5, 225 slant 6 and three on the tree. Super reliable car that I could jump in and drive whenever and wherever I wanted, but I ultimately found myself not doing so.
