I'm sure many here know of the accident I was in, not related to an XS650 as I was riding Wife's Vespa.

Some days are better than others but I decided to take a few steps back from direct involvement in piloting 2 or 3 wheelers. I will be looking forward to being a passenger on the wife's CanAm spyder as soon as it is out of the shop from it's damages in the three way accident!

As I have not been to active the last year regarding the XS650's I contacted a one man shop I delete with and asked him if he or someone he knew would be interested in what I might refer to as a couple rat bike XS650s. He let another private shop owner who we had actually used for state inspection last year when the first guy was out of town.

The guy listened to what I had and said he would stop over and at least look at the stuff. Basically the one bike was a 1982 Heritage Special that actually was licensed till this April and couple be best described as barn find condition but I had replaced the wire rims it not too bad cast wheels and it would actually start and run. The other was a 1978 that I bought years ago with a butchered wiring system that I had installed an after market harness in and actually hand running but still in much need of all kinds of work to get it even close to being ridable on the street.

Also I had several boxes of old used parts that I had accumulated over the years from the years I had the 1981 XS650 Ride to work sidecar outfit, that one was run year round and showed it and parts of it's frame had been sold to some on this forum. Also had a collection of wheels and tires some of which I would only be guessing where they came form!

The 1982 I actually had a title for in my name the 1978 I did have the title from the guy who sold it to me a few decades ago who has since passed on so it might not be too hard to get a new title if someone really wants to register it some time.

I'm not sure about the price I was asking for the bikes and parts as even the best one in my opinion was the 1982 as it actually would start I'm sure some reading this will say I sold too cheep but the way I've been feeling since the accident there is no way I or my wife would have the energy and time to work on shipping bits and pieces all around the world! Plus this guy was there with truck and trailer and a young kid to help load the parts and bikes. I did get $200 for the bikes and told them if they took all the rest of the odds and ends he could have that stuff for free.

He also expressed possible interest in the 1992 Sportster that I think the sidecar on it may be leaving in a few days. along with an old Velorex sidecar as he has a customer even older than me who is considering giving up riding due to health problem from age.

If this all works out I could be without a motorcycle for the first time since 1966, but at least I will have my wife and her CanAm Spyder. Also who knows if my health concerns improve there might be a two or three wheeler in the future!

Thanks for all the thumbs up and frowny faces. This group has meant a lot to me! I will stop in often just to see the projects going on. Like I said hope that someday I am up to a little riding myself along with the time I will get behind wife on her Spyder.

I do have a couple old leather riding jackets, the EMTs did a major number on everything I had on short of my steel toe boots, so once we get her ride back from shop have actually been talking about taking a ride to the hamburger stand we were heading for that day. She thinks seeing the site of the accident will help me some.

If that first ride goes good for us next thought is to get me new Hi-Vis riding jacket like the one I did have on that day and a new helmet, that one has a small crack near the base on the back.

Right there with you KS. As you may know, I sold 2 of my 3 bikes this Spring and the third won't be road-worthy any time soon.

Somewhat to my surprise, I don't really miss riding. A couple of times recently I've been out cruising in my new toy when it was 85 or 90 degrees out and seen bikes go by and my only thought was "Gosh I'm glad I have air conditioning and don't have to wear 20 pounds of hot gear..."

Sometimes it is nice to just clear everything. Lately I've been thinking about selling my Virago XV1000 and have concluded that when its time to go I don't care how much I get for it. I have about £2500 tied up in it but that is easily written off when I think of all the fun I had out of it...:bike: If I get £200 - £500 I would be happy. If the right set of legs came along I'd just give it away.

Well this week we did make two runs to local scrap dealer with all kinds of stuff from the remains of XS650 frames cut up for parts to help some on the forum to even remains of a parted out snow blower and even a hydraulic cylinder and valve that at one time was going to make a wood splitter. Got a little over $100.00 cash for that stuff!

Just got a phone call from guy in Penn. who is going to be here Friday after noon to pick up the sidecar I have on my 1992 Sportster. So most things have found new homes. Also wife got a call on her CanAm Spyder late yesterday and they expect that to be ready to go middle of next week! So things are looking up for us!

Again, Thanks to all for the messages and moral support!
