Make Offer - ATTN Southern New England folks! '78 XS650 Special

Location
Woodstock, CT
Rain hit. Workin under the deck. Found the gaskets online and ordered, cleaned the mating surface on the tank.
Reverse pressure with the shop vac so nothing got inside.
Swapped out 3 sets of bars for fit and comfort, right back to the tall
bars, different angle. Carb cleaning this weekend and new fuel lines, maybe a bath
if we get a dry moment. Got 1 pic but I don't have the wife's phone right now.

Look in the o’ring thread under Tech. That o’ring is surely listed.
Thanks Marty. The Boy ordered a pair. (Mikes) They're round and it looks like
the originals were formed into more or a tight racetrack,
My 75 has a diamond shape with rounded ends, so I thought his
would have the radii. formed into them.
Was thinking a bit of Indian shellac to hold them in place and go from there.
He's busy as hell doing installs, (plumbing and heating)
I took the week to work on my stuff and have been wrenching all the while.
ON CARS! :( not mine!
A few more days off, I'm going to try the gaskets and make sure the tank has no
leaks. If it's good I have a bunch of brown Roloc discs to strip paint reds and blues
to finish it off then paint. I tried a piece of 150 grit and the paint came off easy.
More rain coming for the weekend so under the deck with the fist grinder it is.

I didn't have the o-rings when I serviced the petcock on my GS650. They were flat on the contact side. As a work around I turned it over, got some cooking string, broke it down, layed it in the grove flipped the o-ring so it was proud then reinstalled the petcock. Has worked a treat, no leaks.

Finally found some so bought 2. Will replace next time I work on it.
