The boyer trigger plate may work to trigger the gonzo box , but it will only have half the spark advance available, because the trigger will be running at half crankshaft speed.

No, the Boyer plate at the cam would work. It has 2 triggers so it fires every 360 degrees of crank revolution just like a single trigger does on the crank.
