Hi all after some advice on some b38's i bought off ebay and am currently trying to bring back to life. Whilst trying to change the pilot screws i have noticed that the ends on the old ones have been snaped off and are still stuck in the carb body. Is there any way of getting them out or are they now toast?

Thanks

Heat 150f oil pot throw them in
a couple of hours and cool
repeat a few

time

easy out

Next try ultra sonic in same oil
cool and repeat

again-time

easy out

Your so-called "air-mix" screws are broken-off and stuck, not your pilot jets.
This is on a 76-77 carb set, correct? They are the ones prone to this.
Drill a hole into the carb body on the other side of the air-mix screw hole (in-line with it), and poke the broken piece out. Then seal the hole you drilled. There are a couple of ways you can do that.

Be careful drilling the hole. Go slowly, and check frequently.

I have successfully done this. It's not really very hard to do.

Thanks Automan and Dogbunny
Will give the heat a try to see if that will shift it first.
Yes you are correct Dogbunny they are 76 carbs. i did think i may have to drill the opposite side and have even cross sectioned an old knackered carb body to see how the air mix screw fits in just in case.I was hoping the opposite side had been pluged so i could just remove that and reseal but doesn't look that way.

Nice cross-section. Stay patient, you'll get the nubs out.

Thanks All, in the end went down the route sugested by Dogbunny drilled through the back with a 4mm drill and end mill then tapped out the broken end with a sawing needle. Then tapped the hole with a 5mm tap and treadlocked in the boltđź‘Ť
