Since I have a parts bike with carbs on it, I finally just decided to take the right side carb off of it, instead of continuing to fight the air leak on the one on my bike, XS2. I have cleaned it, and am re-assembling it. It did not have a gasket under the plate on the side, (see picture). The right side carb on my bike also did not have a gasket at this location. So, I'm assuming that no gasket is required there. But I thought I'd just ask here before going any further.

You didn't say what year your carbs are? The '76 IPC shows a gasket.

I apologize. I realized that I didn't mention the year. It is 1972. I went back and edited the post, but you were faster than I was. It appears that the gasket in the exploded view is on the left side carb. My left carb DOES have the gasket under the enrichener assembly. It's the other carb, right side, that I'm curious about. It has a port and passage with a cover over it, as shown in my picture. It seems to me that it should have a gasket there, but it's strange that neither of my right side carbs actually have one. Both carbs appear to be pretty much unmolested, but of course, you never know. Your exploded view drawing doesn't show the right side of the right carb, where the cover is that I'm referring to

I've done several sets of XS2 carbs and none have had a gasket on the right carb. The cover is just for looks. There are no openings into the carb body under the cover.

OK, great, that's the info I needed. I just assumed that what looks like a hole actually went inside somewhere. I should have looked closer. THANK YOU
