But mom, it followed me home! And I'm gonna build it right here!

Hello Mailman,

I've seen your old post regarding the passageways inside the rocher boxes, you meant the sealing of the holes made with aluminium welding (I assume it is cod welding no ? )

When polishing my case, I might have over worked a little bit and I can see on two or three little dots through this welding, I don't even know what they are, , foundry holes ? I assume they need to drill to make the oil pipe and then they close the case with it.

Do you know if I can check them ? and with what do I redo this welding ? Hot or cold ?

Thanks a lot !

Hello, yes what you are referring to was where the factory had drilled oil passageways, they sealed the ends with small ball bearings that were crimped into place, then covered by a rough aluminum epoxy of some sort. What I found was that most of them were loose and crumbly. In most cases, just applying pressure on the edge of them with a screwdriver would pop them right off. So I removed all of them and cleaned the area around the hole and applied JB Weld. If you’re unfamiliar with it , it is a cold setting metal epoxy that is very strong.

Here are some photos of that work.

thanks a lot !!!!

If they're loose, is there a risk then for the bearing ball to obstruct the oil pipeline ?

I don’t believe so, I would bet that the ball bearing is too big to move into the oil galley. The galley is probably smaller diameter. I think the epoxy is more to keep the ball bearing from falling out , which would result in a drop in oil pressure.
