Buying a gas tank for 1976 xs650

Hi everyone, I recently just purchased my first 1976 Yamaha XS 650 and I am super excited to restore it. The bike only came with the frame, wheels, and engine so lots of work needed to be done. I do have a question about the gas tank. Does anyone know if a tank from a 1979-1981 xs 650 special would fit my standard 1976 650? I found one on eBay in great condition but I’ve heard their mountain points are different. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

74-79 Standard tanks take 15 liters
78-84 Special tanks take 12.5 liters

74-84 all interchange, no difference in mounts.

74-78 standard and Specials have 2 peacocks.

80-84 have a single petcock. Will need to split the fuel line into 2 for the BS38 carbs

Side panels 74-79 Standards are the same.

The Special tank won’t look right if you’re doing a restoration. It is noticeably smaller than a standard tank.
