My bike came with a pair of tockia four-piston calipers. I believe that they were on the bike prior to it being dismantled. I don’t really know a lot about disc brakes on bikes. But I reinstalled one caliper. Bolted everything up and other than the pads dragging on the rotor, it seems correctly installed. However I’m very surprised at how narrow the gap is between the caliper body and the mag wheel. Is that normal? Paper thin.

It very well may be. I have no idea. people do a lot of things to these bikes and some of it to very close tolerances. If it's solid and doesn't touch, it may as well be a mile away. I like the KISS method myself.
